Day 1 (including fat stats!)

Day 1 is finally here, and I’m glad it is so I can get started and quit talking about it.  I mean I’ve been talking about it for all of a few days now, right?

I weighed this morning on my super awesome fat scale, which I’ll be putting through its paces over the next few months.  I know you are dying to know, so here are my vitals for now:

  • Height: 5′ 8″ (172.7 cm)
  • Weight: 162 lb (73.5 kg)
  • Body fat: 22.5%
  • BMI: 24.8

I generally feel good around 150 lb (68 kg), and hopefully that’s where I’ll end up.  I’ve been as low as 142 lb (64.4 kg) within the past 5 or so years, but people were starting to worry about me and thought that maybe I had been kidnapped and stored in a trunk for a few weeks.  Maybe they were just concerned about my pallid appearance, which unfortunately will not improve with working out and eating better.  I’ve enjoyed my fish belly for this long, so why stop now?  Plus, the kids love being able to learn about their dad’s internal organs without cutting him open, so it’s all good.

My diet today

  • 2 egg omelette with cheese
  • 2 apples
  • 16 oz of pussed up coffee (2 packs of Splenda & a few splashes of half and half)
  • 2 Diet Dr. Peppers
  • celery with peanut butter
  • chicken breast & spinach salad with light Caesar dressing
  • handful of almonds
  • steak salad with pico de gallo, cucumbers, shredded cheese, light dressing
  • lots of water

The workout went something like this (3 supersets of each pair of exercises)…

  • Pushups & dumbbell squats
  • Dumbbell curls & forward lunges
  • Shoulder dumbbell presses & hamstring curls
  • Mountain climbers & planks

With supersets, you don’t rest between each exercise, only for 30 sec after the second exercise of the pair.  Then go back to the first exercise of the pair until you’ve done 3 reps of each superset.  Each exercise was done for 20 sec, which is the intermediate level for this workout.

After doing all of these, I can safely say that I despise planks — if you’ve never done them, then run along and go indulge your curiosity.  I’ll wait here while you figure out the evil otherwise known as the plank.

Day 1 is complete!
